Developing
clear business cases for our system is fundamental to driving
adoption of the Auto-ID Center's technology. Insights already
gleaned from the work of this subgroup inform many aspects
of our work, such as target costs for hardware. But the main
focus of this research is to create a set of tools and research
papers that, taken together, plot a migration path that takes
users and vendors to a world where, in five to ten years,
adoption is commonplace. This work must enable businesses
to make sensible strategic investment decisions at each step
along this path. The work complements the work of the Business
Case Action Group, which aims to show how companies might
save or make money from specific uses of our technology.
